Australia wrote Medicare into its Constitution in 1900. It is not
Communist; we had our fight against the Communist Party, like you. And
it is not nearly as socialist as Sweden's. According to a statistic I
read, 40% of American bankruptcies are caused by debts for medical
bills. Many bankruptcies leave nothing for the creditors, including the
doctors. But it is expensive to the Government. At the moment,
Medicare payments have not increased in step with doctors' office expenses.
